Biography
Tommy SF Wang (王崧峰) is the founder and principal of Wang IP Law Group, P.C. specializing in Intellectual Property Law. Mr. Wang is a Registered Patent Attorney who is licensed to practice law in California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Central District of California ,and Southern District of California, the 9th District Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Wang has extensive experience representing clients in both federal and state courts as well as throughout the country. Mr. Wang also advises numerous international clients on U.S. Patent Law.
Mr. Wang has filed thousands of patents, trademarks, and copyrights and is experienced in negotiating licensing agreements and obtaining favorable settlements for his clients in order to avoid costly trials. Additionally, Mr. Wang is experienced in Intellectual Property litigation through the U.S. Federal District Courts, United States Courts of Appeals, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
Although Mr. Wang’s practice is primarily focused on patent, trademark, and copyright, he regularly represents clients in antitrust and trade regulation, unfair competition, international business transactions, and other complex business litigation matters. Additionally, Mr. Wang is an expert adviser to international businesses in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory compliance.
Mr. Wang’s clients range from multinational public corporations to individual entrepreneurs who have just started their business journey. Mr. Wang specializes in representing clients on international business transactions in and between China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States. Mr. Wang is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, and serves as outside general counsel to many clients seeking legal management and counseling services with regard to their business affairs.
Background
As a trained Biochemist, Mr. Wang devotes a large portion of his practice for the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the field of medical devices, biochemical sciences, and chemical sciences. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Wang worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Mr. Wang’s research experience allowed him to contribute to several ground-breaking projects from conceptualization to Internal Review Board and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Mr. Wang also worked as a patent search professional at Cardinal Intellectual Property, where he conducted patentability, infringement, validity, freedom to operate, and landscape searches while drafting opinions based on his findings.
In his spare time, Mr. Wang has also personally built an extensive portfolio of his own patents, and thus brings a unique perspective to the table when it comes to helping business owners protect their intellectual property. He understands the intricacies of the patent development process and provides valuable insights to clients seeking patent protection. Furthermore, Mr. Wang has also successfully monetized his patent and trademark portfolios to build on his expertise.
